Secure Wall Mounted Metal Drug Disposal Cabinets.

These drug collection boxes are currently in use with the Essex Police as

part of an overall crime reduction initiative.

The drug deposit boxes are installed in numerous night clubs, pubs and bars throughout Essex
in accordance with Essex Police code of practice. For the link, to view the full code of practice,

(NEEDAS) and are proud to be serving the community.

Mounted drug cabinet as used by Essex Police Substance Misuse department. As can be seen this is a wall mounted cabinet. (Fixing details, see below). As part of the scheme, the police hold the keys to all cabinets and therefore empty the cabinets and dispose of their contents.

A plastic container (as approved by health and safty excecutive) can be fitted if discarded needles are to be deposited.

A public house etc., wishing to join the scheme, should in the first instance:

1. Contact the your local police licensing officer.

2. Then contact us here at A & R Engineering, (see contact details at bottom of this web page), to purchase a cabinet, with full fitting instructions but without a key.

Please note. The rights to the drug deposit box are then transferred to the police and in accordance with legal requirements, drugs are therefore reduced into their control once they have been deposited.

3. The establishment then installs the cabinet on their premises (but not where the public have access) and informs the police when the cabinet is secured on the wall.

4. The police will then visit the premises to lock the cabinet, thereafter the cabinet is ready for use.

5. The police will then call and empty the contents of the cabinet, usually upon request of the management or during a police visit.

As can be seen above, the cabinet is easy to use but also secure. The unique swing counter balance design facilitates a one way loading system which stops tampering and also means that employees of the premises are protected by not coming into contact with the contents inside the cabinet. This safety deposit box is not designed for use with needles. However we do manufacture sharps bins and needle exchange cabinets. Please contact us for details. The unique swing action cabinet loading device is registered with the patent office. Patent number available on application.

Remember, your licensing officer is there to assist you and can provide further guidance of the code of practice.
This code of practice should be regarded as the minimum standard expected of licence holders.

For security reasons we do
not advise mounting the cabinet
on a plaster board or stud wall.
