Safety advice and information for laptop and notebook charging trolleys.

All 2010 LCC trolleys have been tested in accordance with the Low Voltage Directive 2006/95/EC in accordance with BS EN 60335-1 Household and similar electrical appliances - Safety - Part 1: General requirements. As such all units are fully CE compliant.

Electrical Safety

In accordance with HSE guidelines we recommend the following:

· LCC cabinets should only be used by responsible adults.

· Dedicated, switchable, RCD (residual current device) protected sockets for laptop charging units should be identified and used.

· The main power lead should only be inserted to the wall socket when the socket is switched OFF.

· The main power lead should only be removed from the wall socket when the socket is switched OFF.  A two second delay must be incorporated between switching the socket off and removing the plug to allow any residual current to discharge.

· A warning notice should be posted adjacent to the sockets and elsewhere, as necessary, to remind users of the need to switch sockets OFF before inserting or removing plugs and allowing a two second delay as detailed above.

· Adults likely to insert/remove plugs should be advised of this procedure and the associated risks.

· Cables should receive a daily visual check prior to use.  Do not use a cable that has ANY signs of damage.

· Ensure that the cable is disconnected prior to moving the cabinet.

· Ensure that the mains power supply to the cabinet is switched off and disconnected prior to disconnecting the laptops from the manufacturer’s chargers within cabinets.

In all instances we recommend checking with a qualified electrician if unsure about anything relating to the LCC units.

Maintenance

The LCC cabinets come finished in a tough and durable powder coat finish.  Should this become dirty or dusty a simple wipe over with a damp cloth should restore the unit to its original finish.  The use of chemical or abrasive cleaners is not advised.

We advise a daily visual inspection of the unit and a check after each move to ensure that the cabinet and its electrical components are all in a satisfactory condition.

In the event that the power cable becomes damaged or unsafe, please contact our technical team so the correct replacement lead can be arranged.   Fuses are located in both the plug and the socket on the cabinet, once again replacement fuses are available from our technical team.

Over time the lock, hinges and wheels may stiffen, a simple application of oil to these areas should loosen, lubricate and protect accordingly.

If you need any further advice or assistance our technical team will be glad to assist you, contact details are available as below.
